// how i work

Calm, direct, and on your side.

I work with adults, one to one. A session is a conversation with structure: we start with what’s pressing, get clear on what you want to change, and work toward it at a pace that’s yours.

01 — principles

What you can expect from me.

You set the direction

We work on what you came for. I’ll ask questions and say what I notice, but the goals are yours, and so is the pace.

Plain words

No jargon and no labels for the sake of labels. If something in our work isn’t helping, we say so and change it.

Between the lines

What we say and what we mean are often different things. Noticing that — carefully, and without judging — is a large part of what I do.

Honest about limits

If what you need is beyond what I offer, I’ll tell you plainly and help you find the right place to go.

02 — areas

What people come with.

Some examples of what we can work on. They’re starting points, not boxes to fit into.

01

Crisis and starting over

  • war, displacement and the news from home
  • loss — of people, of a home, of a life you’d planned
  • adapting to a new country, language and work culture
  • feeling stuck between “here” and “there”

02

Conflict and difficult conversations

  • recurring arguments with a partner or family
  • conflict with a manager or colleagues
  • preparing for a conversation you’ve been avoiding
  • setting boundaries without guilt

03

Pressure at work

  • stress, overload and early signs of burnout
  • perfectionism and the need to be the best
  • career doubts and big decisions
  • rebuilding a career after a move

04

Family and generations

  • caring for ageing parents from a distance
  • raising children between two cultures
  • roles that change after a move or a new child
  • old family patterns that keep repeating

03 — sessions

The practical part.

Everything starts with a short first call. If we decide to work together, these are the basics.

first call
15–20 minutes, to see if we’re a good fit
session length
50 minutes
format
Online by video, or in person in Copenhagen
languages
Ukrainian, Russian, English
rhythm
Weekly or every other week, agreed together
fee
Agreed before the first session
cancelling
Let me know at least 24 hours ahead

04 — confidentiality

What you say stays here.

What you tell me stays between us. The only exceptions are the ones the law sets — for example, a serious risk to your life or someone else’s, or a child at risk — and if that ever comes up, I’ll talk to you about it first wherever I can.

I keep notes to a minimum and store them securely. I never use your story anywhere, not even anonymised, without your permission.

05 — what I don’t do

Knowing the limits.

Counselling isn’t medical treatment. I don’t diagnose, prescribe medication, or treat severe mental illness — such as psychosis, severe depression, eating disorders or addiction.

If that’s what you’re facing, your GP (egen læge) is the right first step: they can refer you to a psychiatrist or an authorised psychologist. If you’re unsure which applies to you, write to me and I’ll help you work out where to go.

06 — questions

Common questions.

Do I need a referral?

No. You can write to me directly. Sessions are private: they are not covered by the Danish public health insurance (sygesikringen).

Online or in person — which is better?

Both work well. Online sessions are by video from wherever you feel comfortable. In-person sessions are in Copenhagen. You can switch between them.

I’m not sure counselling is for me. Should I still write?

Yes. That is what the first short call is for: to talk it through, with no commitment.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on what you come with. Some people come for a few sessions about one specific thing; others prefer to work over a longer period. We review it together as we go, and you can stop at any time.

I don’t live in Denmark. Can we still work together?

Yes. Online sessions work from anywhere, as long as we can find a time that suits both time zones.

A few lines are enough to start.
